Samsung's New Folding Phone Scores Poorly for Repairs After Hinge Problems

iFixit gave Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 a low repair score of 4 out of 10. When repeatedly opened and closed, the hinge made crunching and grinding noises and stopped working normally. The phone's dust resistance rating still lets particles smaller than 1 millimeter into the hinge. Samsung has long combined the hinge and inner screen into one part, so replacing either means nearly taking the whole phone apart.
