Flock CEO Reverses Course, Imposes Own Oversight on ALPR Systems

Flock CEO Garrett Langley said the company "got the oversight question wrong" and will make its Audit Assistance feature mandatory, require case codes for all searches, and cut default data retention from 30 days to seven. Langley had previously argued lawmakers, not Flock, bore responsibility for regulating ALPR use; little such regulation materialized. The move follows documented stalking cases, including a Georgia police chief searching his ex-girlfriend's plate over 500 times.
