Police Minister withholds details of Naidoo briefing under Official Information Act

Police Minister Mark Mitchell has declined to release details of a sensitive briefing attended by Superintendent Rakesh Naidoo, invoking section 6(c) of the Official Information Act — a provision covering prejudice to law enforcement and fair trial rights. Mitchell said he held "pre-existing concerns" about the briefing before Naidoo disclosed he was considering standing for Labour. An internal police review is under way.
