Fermi Signs First Tenant for Nuclear-Powered AI Campus; Stock Jumps 23%

Fermi Inc. signed AI compute provider TensorWave as the first binding customer lease for Project Matador, its nuclear-powered AI campus in Amarillo, Texas, announced August 10, 2026. Fermi's stock rose nearly 23 percent following the deal and the August 11 appointment of Lee McIntire — former CEO of Bill Gates' TerraPower — as chief executive.
