Nepali Guide Found Alive After Six Days Missing in Everest's Khumbu Icefall
Dawa Sherpa, a Nepali mountain guide, was found alive June 4 by clearing crews near Crampon Point in the Khumbu Icefall after six days missing. He became separated from his British client around May 29 while descending between Camp IV and Camp III. His client reached base camp; Sherpa did not. Rescued with frostbite to his fingers, he was airlifted to Kathmandu for treatment. The separation occurred as the 2026 spring season ended and route infrastructure was being dismantled.
