Typhoon Dolphin Floods Beijing After 1,200 km Inland Push From Shanghai

Typhoon Dolphin, the most powerful cyclone to hit China in 2026, flooded central China and parts of Beijing as of August 11 after pushing roughly 1,200 kilometers inland from coastal Shanghai. Such deep penetration by a single tropical system is rare. Hubei Province closed the Three Gorges Dam scenic area and suspended 26 high-risk sites amid forecasts of up to 250mm of rain in 24 hours.
