Agencies ignoring Cabinet directive to share IT resources, government's own digital chief tells ministers

The government chief digital officer has told ministers that agencies' proposed digital investments remain "siloed, duplicative and deliver little system benefit," according to a Treasury report for the December 2025 quarter. The chief digital officer told chief executives last year to pool resources and adopt shared standards under Cabinet's Back-Office Transformation initiative. The report shows no evidence of changed behaviour.
