Anthropic Will Watermark All Claude-Generated Text and Files Under EU AI Act

Anthropic will watermark all text and files from its Claude models to comply with the EU AI Act's Transparency Code, effective August 2, 2026. The requirement mandates machine-readable marking of AI-generated content. New models ship with watermarking automatically; older models are being updated. Files use the C2PA standard; text watermarks are embedded at the model level and persist through copy-paste. Google, Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI have also committed to the EU code.
