GM and Ford Shift Manufacturing to Battery Storage
General Motors and Ford are repurposing factory capacity for energy storage systems. GM launched consumer and commercial products last year offering vehicle-to-grid technology, stationary batteries, and solar integration. Ford is converting its Kentucky EV plant to produce 20 gigawatt-hours annually of battery storage. Both are leveraging automotive battery expertise to enter grid storage—essential as power grids absorb more renewable energy.
