GM and Ford Are Now Making Batteries for the Power Grid

General Motors and Ford are shifting production toward energy storage for homes and the electrical grid. GM launched products that let electric vehicles send power back to homes during blackouts. Ford is converting a Kentucky factory to make 20 billion watt-hours of batteries annually for grid storage. Both companies are using their battery expertise to compete in a growing market as renewable energy becomes more common.
