Independent autopsy of Nolan Wells returns undetermined cause of death

A privately funded autopsy of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, found dead July 6 on Horn Island, Mississippi, could not determine how he died. Dr. Roger Mitchell cited significant decomposition and missing neck tissue needed to check for strangulation or asphyxia (suffocation). State autopsy results remain unreleased. Colin Kaepernick funded the second examination.
