Missing neck tissue and decomposition stall independent autopsy in Nolan Wells death

An independent autopsy of 18-year-old Nolan Wells, found dead on Horn Island, Mississippi, on July 6, returned cause and manner of death as "undetermined, pending investigation." Dr. Roger Mitchell found the body significantly decomposed and missing interior neck structures — tissue needed to assess strangulation or asphyxia. The state autopsy results remain unreleased. Colin Kaepernick funded the second examination.
