Anthropic Held Acquisition Talks With Robotics Startup Physical Intelligence

Anthropic and Physical Intelligence discussed an acquisition in spring 2026, per The Information. Physical Intelligence was separately pursuing a $1 billion round at an $11 billion valuation, nearly double its November 2025 figure of $5.6 billion. CEO Karol Hausman denied acquisition reports to staff after a social media rumor. OpenAI, an existing Physical Intelligence backer, launched its own robotics unit in May 2026.
