IRCC rejects Acadian records displaced by the 1755 Expulsion

IRCC, the federal immigration department, is refusing Acadian citizenship applicants' baptismal and birth records now held in archives in France and the United States. Those documents were displaced from Nova Scotia during the 1755–1764 British Expulsion of about 11,500 Acadians. Grand-Pré's civil registers were carried to Louisiana and now sit in Baton Rouge. Université Sainte-Anne professor Clint Bruce calls the rejections "deeply unfair."
