Ottawa rejects citizenship records from Acadian expulsion

Canada's immigration department is rejecting Acadian citizenship applicants' old baptismal and birth records now held in archives in France and the United States. British forces displaced those documents from Nova Scotia during the 1755–1764 expulsion of about 11,500 Acadians. Grand-Pré's records were carried to Louisiana and now sit in Baton Rouge. Professor Clint Bruce of Université Sainte-Anne calls the rejections "deeply unfair."
