Fourth Death in NYC Legionnaires' Outbreak as Spread Appears to Stop

A fourth person has died in the Upper East Side Legionnaires' outbreak, which sickened 76. No new cases have emerged since July 15. Health Commissioner Dr. Alister Martin said the contamination source has "likely been eliminated." Seven patients remain hospitalized. Legionnaires' disease, a pneumonia caused by waterborne bacteria in inhaled droplets, kills roughly 10% of those infected.
