Sony files new Udio lawsuit over 30,117 recordings, seeks up to $4.5 billion
Sony Music filed a separate copyright lawsuit against AI music generator Udio, alleging 30,117 sound recordings were used to train its models without permission. A court barred Sony from adding these works to its original 2024 complaint on June 29. Sony seeks a jury trial and statutory damages up to $150,000 per work — roughly $4.5 billion at maximum.
