Sony files new Udio lawsuit over 30,117 recordings, seeking up to $4.5 billion

Sony Music filed a separate copyright lawsuit against AI music generator Udio over 30,117 sound recordings allegedly used without permission to train its models. A court barred Sony from adding those works to its original 2024 complaint on June 29. Sony demands a jury trial and statutory damages up to $150,000 per work — roughly $4.5 billion at maximum.
