Inflation rises to 4.1 percent, Willis points to fuel price 'Trump spike'

Annual inflation hit 4.1 percent — the highest in over two years, StatsNZ figures show. Finance Minister Nicola Willis blamed a "Trump spike" in fuel prices. Without petrol and diesel increases, inflation would have been 2.9 percent, inside the Reserve Bank's 1–3 percent target band. Electricity prices rose 12 percent and rates 9 percent.
