Bastl Kalimba Merges Physical Touch with Digital Synthesis

Czech maker Bastl Instruments launched the Kalimba on Kickstarter, a desktop instrument that pairs 12 touch-sensitive tines with FM synthesis and physical modeling. Built-in microphones and an accelerometer capture acoustic strikes, with motion data shaping the synthesis output in real time. Early-bird pricing: 389 EUR; retail 500 EUR. Three years in development.
