Offshore processing costs hit $9.6 million per person on Nauru

Home Affairs budget papers show Australia spent $971.6 million on offshore processing in 2025-26 for about 100 people on Nauru — roughly $9.6 million each. Those same people get $260 a fortnight for food and essentials. An ASRC survey of 78 found 77 can't afford enough to eat. A basic data plan eats 20% of the allowance.
