CPTPP members weigh rename as acronym stumbles trade talks

Officials meeting in Vietnam will consider renaming the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership. Trade policy expert Deborah Elms said the change is overdue because "everyone trips over the acronym." Members suggested alternatives like "international" or "global trade partnership." The 12-nation bloc includes New Zealand, Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom.
