CPTPP members mull name change as acronym trips up everyone

Senior officials meeting in Vietnam will consider renaming the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership. Trade policy expert Deborah Elms said the change is long overdue because "everyone trips over the acronym." Members polled suggested alternatives along the lines of "international" or "global trade partnership." The 12-nation bloc includes New Zealand, Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom.
