5.5-Magnitude Quake Strikes Peru's Andes, Killing at Least Five

A 5.5-magnitude earthquake hit Peru's Andes on July 19 at 9:24 PM local time, centered near Sicaya in Huancayo province. At just 10 km deep — a shallow quake, which tends to cause more surface damage — it killed at least five, injured over 20, and displaced 300. A church and convent collapsed. Remote terrain has slowed the search for the missing.
