Earthquake in Peru's Mountains Kills at Least Five
On July 19 at 9:24 PM, a moderate earthquake shook Peru's mountainous Andes region, near the town of Sicaya. The shaking originated close to the surface, making it more destructive. At least five people died, over 20 were hurt, and 300 lost their homes. A church and convent fell. Rugged, hard-to-reach land has made it difficult to learn how many people are missing.
