Nikkei Falls 648 Points to 70,035 on Oct. 7

Japan's Nikkei Stock Average fell 648.27 points, or 0.92%, to close at 70,035.71 on October 7, 2026, Mainichi reported. That is a loss of less than one in a hundred, but at these levels the point drop looks large. I see it as normal wobble for retirement savers, not a signal about Japan's economy.
