OpenAI Publicly Released Internal Records While Defending Musk Lawsuit
OpenAI published emails, board minutes, and internal correspondence from 2017–2018 on a public webpage to defend itself against Elon Musk's lawsuit over the company's shift from nonprofit to for-profit status. The disclosures revealed Musk had demanded majority ownership and CEO control during the transition—demands the board rejected. Musk withdrew the lawsuit June 11 without settlement.
