Labour pledges 10% cut to student loans

Labour leader Chris Hipkins promised at the party’s campaign launch in Manukau to cancel 10% of eligible, qualifying student loan balances if Labour is elected. Loans of $2,000 or less would be cleared in full, RNZ reported. Hipkins said student debt “can follow people for years, making it harder to save for a home, start a family or get ahead.”
