Labour promises 10% student loan write-off if elected

Labour leader Chris Hipkins promised at the party's campaign launch in Manukau to write off 10% of eligible student loan balances if elected. Loans of $2,000 or less would be cleared in full, according to RNZ. Hipkins said student debt "can follow people for years, making it harder to save for a home, start a family or get ahead."
