Labour would cut student loans if it wins

Labour leader Chris Hipkins said at Labour’s campaign event in Manukau that if elected, Labour would cut 10% off qualifying student loans, like $10 off $100 owed. Loans of $2,000 or less would be wiped clean, RNZ reported. Hipkins said debt “can follow people for years, making it harder to save for a home, start a family or get ahead.”
