Prosecutors seek at least 46 months for musician in AI stream fraud

Federal prosecutors asked a judge to sentence North Carolina musician Michael Smith to at least 46 months for AI streaming fraud, Billboard reported on Sept. 29. Smith, 54, admitted using AI songs and bots for billions of streams. He pleaded guilty to wire fraud conspiracy and agreed to forfeit over $8 million.
