France Detains 440 in Student Protests Over Crowded Schools

French police detained 440 people, mostly under 18, on Sept. 29 during high-school protests, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez told BFMTV. Two-thirds were held in police custody for further questioning. The demonstrations began in Ile-de-France, the region around Paris, over crowded classrooms and too few teachers.
