Kāinga Ora drops 39-home Strathmore plan as unviable

Kāinga Ora has stopped its plan for 39 new homes on Nuku Street in Strathmore, Wellington, RNZ reported. Regional director Sarah Willson said new social housing — state-owned rentals — was not financially viable on the site. The plan was stopped in 2025 after its nationwide reset, with sale money going to its housing renewals programme.
