US-Venezuela Oil Deal Signed With Unelected Leader, No Election Date Set

Trump signed an oil deal covering 65 billion of Venezuela's 303 billion barrels in proven reserves with interim president Delcy Rodríguez, who assumed power without election after US forces abducted Maduro in January 2026. Neither leader set a presidential election date. Rodríguez said only: "There will be an electoral process, but when Venezuela is ready."
