UNICEF: Under 1% of Online Child Sexual Abuse Incidents Reach Authorities

A UNICEF report found that 20 million children aged 12–17 across 21 countries face online sexual abuse each year, but fewer than 1 in 100 cases reach authorities. Most happened on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. The study covered Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Eastern Europe — showing safety tools catch almost nothing.
