Google's WeatherNext 3: Hourly, 5-km Global Forecasts With Sharper Rain Prediction

Google launched WeatherNext 3, generating hourly global forecasts at 5-km resolution — up from 25-km every six hours. The model takes in live satellite data each cycle and reports up to 50 percent better precipitation accuracy at one-day lead times. It powers Search, Maps, and Gemini, and still runs alongside traditional physics-based forecasting.
