Google's WeatherNext 3 Delivers Hourly, 5-km Global Forecasts With 50% Better Precipitation Accuracy

Google rolled out WeatherNext 3, producing hourly global forecasts at 5-kilometer resolution — up from 25-km every six hours in WeatherNext 2. The model ingests live satellite data each cycle and claims up to 50 percent better precipitation accuracy at one-day lead times. It is integrated into Search, Maps, and Gemini. Google says it still works alongside physics-based forecasting.
