Smell as Discrimination: An Overlooked Prejudice, Historian Says

University of York historian Dr Will Tullett warns that odour-based prejudice persists today. He cites landlords rejecting tenants over ethnic food aromas and a Commons bill that could have criminalised rough sleepers for excessive smells. Tullett urges greater awareness of how scent becomes a proxy for bias. His book 'Sniff' is due 8 September.
