Federal Court immigration caseload up 600% since 2020, chief justice says

Federal Court Chief Justice Alan Diner says immigration filings are on track to top 33,000 this year — up about 600 per cent since 2020 — while the bench stays at 44 judges. Immigration now drives 86 per cent of all files, with 28,000 pending. Staff work weekends and through vacations. Wait times have reached eight weeks.
