Trump Creates Commission to Plan U.S. Space Academy
President Trump signed an executive order at NASA's Johnson Space Center on August 28, 2026, creating a commission to design a U.S. Space Academy. NASA Administrator Isaacman will lead the panel, which includes Defense Secretary Hegseth, Air Force Secretary Meink, and OMB Director Vought. Graduates would serve the Space Force, NASA, and the private space sector. Congress still must fund and authorize it.
