Trump Orders Creation of US Space Academy Commission
On August 28, 2026, at NASA's Johnson Space Center, President Trump signed an executive order creating a Presidential Commission to design the proposed United States Space Academy. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman will lead the panel, which includes Defense Secretary Hegseth, Air Force Secretary Meink, and OMB Director Vought. Graduates would serve the Space Force, NASA, and the civilian space industry. Congress must still appropriate funds and pass enabling legislation for the academy to open.
