Gaza Ceasefire on the Brink, Peace Envoy Warns

UN peace envoy Nikolay Mladenov warned August 28 that Gaza's ceasefire may collapse as both sides ignore the agreed roadmap. A return to war, he said, would be "devastating," with "no better alternative" to the current plan. Netanyahu rejected the roadmap; Hamas approved it. Gaza's Health Ministry reports 1,303 Palestinians killed by Israeli fire since October 2025.
