Labour's fuel excise freeze would cost at least $1.8b, Treasury estimates

Labour says it would freeze fuel excise for a full term, scrapping a 12-cent-per-litre rise due in January. Treasury puts the three-year cost at about $1.8 billion, excluding later increases Labour would also cancel. The party plans to divert $65 million a year from the National Land Transport Fund to cap public transport fares.
