ICE Officer Charged in Minneapolis Shooting Freed After Texas Extradition Stalls
ICE officer Christian Castro, charged with shooting Julio César Sosa-Celis in Minneapolis and lying about it, was released from a Texas jail on August 27. A federal judge declined to compel Governor Abbott to sign Castro's extradition warrant — the formal request to transfer him to Minnesota — and Texas's 90-day detention limit expired. Minnesota officials warn Castro may flee to Mexico.
