Immigration Officer Charged in Minneapolis Shooting Goes Free in Texas

Christian Castro, an immigration officer, is accused of shooting Julio César Sosa-Celis in Minneapolis and lying about it. On August 27, a Texas jail released him. A judge would not force Texas Governor Abbott to send Castro to Minnesota to face trial — the handover is called extradition — and Texas's 90-day holding limit ran out. Minnesota officials fear Castro may flee to Mexico.
