Top Gear Confirmed for Return After Near-Four-Year Hiatus

BBC entertainment director Ed Havard confirmed Top Gear's return at the Edinburgh TV Festival on August 27, 2026, ending a near-four-year halt after co-host Freddie Flintoff was seriously injured in an on-set crash at Dunsfold Aerodrome. The BBC settled with Flintoff for a reported £9 million. Havard declined to name a host; comedian Jimmy Carr is reportedly in talks.
