Court injunctions cleared, USPS mail-in voting rule to take effect

All court orders blocking the USPS mail-in voting rule have been lifted. Judge Indira Talwani vacated her nationwide injunction on Aug. 26, 2026, two days after the Supreme Court lifted a second one. The rule's ballot envelope design standards and absentee-voter-list requirements can now take effect. Lawsuits from two dozen states and voting rights groups continue.
