Ring Switches Default Encryption to TAKE Worldwide

Ring announced August 26, 2026 that TAKE — encryption using rotating keys Ring temporarily holds to power cloud features like Smart Alerts, then deletes within 24 hours — becomes its default video encryption worldwide starting September 2026. Users can still manually select end-to-end encryption. Previously, Ring's strongest option was opt-in E2EE, which most users never enabled — an EFF concern since 2021.
