Ring Makes TAKE Encryption the Default Worldwide, Replacing Opt-In E2EE Baseline

Ring announced August 26, 2026 that TAKE (Throw Away the Key Encryption) becomes its default video encryption standard worldwide from September 2026. TAKE uses rotating keys Ring temporarily holds to power cloud features like Smart Alerts, deleting them within 24 hours. Users can still manually select E2EE. Previously, Ring's strongest encryption was an opt-in most users never enabled — an EFF concern since 2021.
