Cleveland Police probe possible ties between Grangetown fatal fire, A66 crash, and organised crime

Two people died and a woman was critically injured in a Grangetown, Middlesbrough house fire on 26 August 2026. Cleveland Police have not excluded links to Saturday's A66 wrong-way collision — killing seven, including two officers — or to local organised crime. A parallel disruption operation has produced 17 arrests. The fire scene remains unexamined.
